Confessions Of A Vinyl Collector
Its been a nearly couple of weeks since my last confession and whilst I’ve kept away from the local second hand sellers, the tempatation of ebay has been strong.
Although only 4 titles added to my collection since the last posting in the series it really it a case of quality not quantity…
Dio - Sacred Heart (£1.30)…. a superb Dio album with Vivian Campbell still on guitar. Dio peddles the kind of stuff he did so well with Rainbow and Sabbath with the title track, Rock N Roll Children and Another Lie all great songs.
Dio - Dream Evil (£1.72)…. Dio’s 4th post-Sabbath album and Craig Goldie in for Campbell. Another strong album from RJD. Again the title track stands out as does Night People. Not too familiar with this album yet. Both Dio albums from the same seller as well so just £3 for p&p - need The Last In Line and Lock Up The Wolves next.
Status Quo - Hello (£1.99 + £1.99 p&p)…. Quo’s masterworks. Caroline, Roll Over Lay Down and the best 9 minutes of boogie rock you’ll ever get in Forty-Five Hundred Times. Original copy in very good nick with the poster still in prime condition within. Excellent…
Rush - Archives (£2.49 + £3.20 p&p)…. rather like I’m going to do with the Kiss back catalogue I’ve been wanting to go back and review Rush’s releases from the beginning. Unlike the Kiss ‘project’ where I’m stuck at the moment getting the 2nd album, Rush released a 3LP compilation featuring all of the first 3 albums. So look out for reviews of Rush, Fly By Night and Caress Of Steel in the future.
Nothing left in the pot now until further funds are released into South Wales Rock Album Collection appeal fund (paypal!) but some good stuff added to the collection for now.

You said - “A II Z - The Witch Of Berkeley (live) features Danger UXB closing side one, which must be the only A II Z track I’ve ever heard! Rare Record Price Guide advises readers to also see AC/DC but from the sleevenotes I can’t see why????”
Simon Wright played drums for A II Z on this album. Later of Dio, AC/DC and currently touring drummer with UFO.

Many thanks for that - it’s been bugging me for ages why they would state that. Now why didn’t they mention ’see Dio’ as well?

I have several hundred albums, but have not bought that many in a while. I bought a few lots back in the fall and a White Wolf album the other month, but that’s about it.

I’d say you added some gems. The two Dio album are very good, I prefer Dream Evil to Sacred Heart. Haven’t heard much Quo but they are on my list to explore.

Dunno Status Quo but you can’t go wrong with the rest. Excellent albums.

Some nice selections there. I remember having a Status Quo video taped somewhere in my archives. I’ll have to take a visit to the dungeon and see if I still have it. I agree about Dream Evil to Sacred Heart, but I used to write with Sacred Heart playing and “Like the Beat of a Heart” is very sentimental to me. Funny, we just did our March Metal Madness review of Dream Evil last week…
